XOXO

This was definitely a quick knit - only one week, as planned, almost no unraveling. The pattern was comparatively easy to memorize and follow and to keep me interested. I had some issues with the yarn (what's new :) - the two skeins had a very slight hue difference, hope it's not visible to the untrained eye, and then - I had only 200 g and I had to make it suffice. So, after I knitted the body, I weighed the remaining yarn, then knitted one of the sleeves up to bind off, weighed again, found out that I'll manage only just, so I started knitting the second sleeve from the other end of the skein without breaking the yarn. And for some obscure reason I knitted it so fast, as if trying to outrun the yarn. I was lucky (or perhaps it's due to my excellent maths skills - I'm so modest :), but 200 g were just enough.

EQUILIBRIUM

So, finally it's springtime and the peach under my window is flaunting its first blossoms.

Today is the equilibrium day and my qualms about Mony's sweater are finally settled - the monster sweater is ready.
Three times is a charm was the motto of this sweater - so I've knitted, and unraveled, and knitted, and unraveled, and knitted again - until every part of it - color combination, neckband, sleeves, wristbands, were done to satisfy my compulsion to perfection.

And if the sweater fits Mony eventually - that'll be a feast! :)

Pattern: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Cream
Size: 3-4 years
Yarn: YarnArt Merino De Luxe, 50% wool 50% acrylic

Grey Newsboy Cap

I was totally obsessed with the newsboy cap pattern last autumn,
but the only wearable one I managed was this improvised crocheted
cap, made from old stash remains. As it was too cold last autumn,
I am rediscovering this cap with the break of spring.

Pattern: Newsboy Cap
Yarn: Denina, 100 g / 400 m, 70% wool, 30% PAN

PlumBerRIA Photo Session

Name: PlumBerRIA
Design: RIA by Berroco, size xs
Yarn: YarnArt Merino de Luxe, 2 skeins
Needle: 3.00 mm, 3.50 mm

A fairly easy and quick design and a stunning result. The only modifications I made to the xs size were the long sleeves and the side ribbing, which was done as a single piece, hence 2 stitches less were picked up from the back. The beads are wooden, 8 mm. To avoid curling of the side rib, I cast off purlwise on the WS as follows: p1 p1 p2tog.
New tricks I learned with this project: large number of stitches for the rib on smaller needles, reduced by 1/4 for the stockinette body produce a nice even look of the sweater. The mattress stitch for the final sewing of parts - very slow, but worth your while. Incorporating beads in the knitwork - such fun. The twisted stitches - thank you, Berroco team, wonderful video tutorial!

Quick Russian Bake Rolls

A simple breakfast recipe, borrowed from Clementintje:

All you need is a package of puff pastry ("thousand leaves") dough, sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the dough, spread some sugar and cinnamon to your taste, wrap the dough into a roll and cut it into 6-8 mm circles. Bake in an oven at 220 C for 20 min. Serve cold with milk or tea.
